Introduce the Business Opportunity

Like with everything in dōTERRA, you want to make sure that you are sharing the Business opportunity in a genuine and integral way.  Please do not push the business onto anyone or share in a way that does not represent the culture of dōTERRA whose focus is always to educate and empower others.

This is why the first step to introducing the Business is to have belief in the oils as the oils are the foundation of the dōTERRA Business.  You can increase your belief in the oils by using them daily and through learning more about how the oils can be used to help support the body both emotionally and physically.

The next step is to have belief in the opportunity.  At the beginning of your business, it can be helpful to look to your upline or cross line to help get belief in the compensation plan.  You can also build belief in the opportunity by learning more about the compensation plan and listening to videos from the executives of dōTERRA.  Attending events is also a great way of building your belief in the Business.  The more belief and genuine passion you have about the dōTERRA opportunity, the easier it will be to share the opportunity with others.

Sharing the Business Opportunity

There are many opportunities to share the Business opportunity. Here are some ways;

Plant Seeds:

This is a good way of creating interest amongst friends and those you see frequently.  You don’t need to speak about the Business a lot, just mention the benefits and your enthusiasm for the business in a way that is natural.  Like with the oils, it can take a few touches before someone can show interest in the Business so sometimes you just need to be patient.

Whilst Sampling:

You can drop into the conversation that you are doing this as a business.  This is another way you can plant an initial seed that can create interest later.

Initial Contact:

Occasionally it may be more relevant to share the opportunity with a new contact before sharing the oils.  This is very rare as most people are attracted to the oils first, so this is usually the best route to take.  If you do share the business opportunity first, it is a good idea to share the oils with them shortly after as this helps them to see how good the opportunity is.

During a Class:

It is important to always mention the Business Opportunity in a class as this is the time that people are excited about the oils and feeling the energy of the class.  Many people in the class could be thinking this is something they would like to do but will probably not mention this unless you give them opportunity.  Other people will not realise there is a business opportunity unless you tell them about it.

The more you do it, the more natural it becomes.  Remember everything you are sharing in the class is about educating and empowering others.  You have educated your guests on how to take more responsibility and control of their own health.  Now, you get to educate on how they can benefit from additional income doing something they are passionate about.  Do not underestimate how many people will want to hear this even if they don’t end up doing anything about it.  It is our responsibility to share!

You can mention the Business opportunity at the beginning of the class and/or the end of a class.  You only need to take about 2 mins to introduce this and it is respectful to not take a lot longer as your guests have come to learn about the oils.

At an Event:

Sometimes it is appropriate to mention the Business Opportunity to those you meet at an Event.  Again this is a time to plant seeds.  If someone shows interest then you can book a time to chat.  It is a good idea to give them a couple of samples of the oils so they can start to build a picture of the focus of the business.

Feedback Form:

The class feedback form is a great way to identify those who are interested in the Business. Here is an example of what you can say when introducing the Business in a class;

“Tonight, we have shared a lot of information with you. We really hope you have enjoyed what you have heard. As you can probably tell, we are very passionate about these oils and this is because we have literally seen them help and change the lives of so many people. This is why I decided to do this as a business because I get to focus on empowering others with their own health. As I do this, I am building a business which enables me to create a lifestyle where I can choose my work hours and have residual income which can supplement or replace our family income. If this is something you think you would like to do or know more about, then please tick the relevant box on the feedback form. We can briefly discuss this with you and send you some information for you to have a look at.”

If someone is interested in the Business then make sure you have all of their details so you can send them a couple of your favourite videos. Set up a time when you can have a chat with them either in person, on zoom, or over the phone.

Business Mini Class:

Sometimes, you may want to do an intro to the business mini class at the end of the class. This usually lasts for about ten mins and covers the main points of the business.  You can use the Business guide or ‘why the business doc’ for this or ‘what is the business’ powerpoint.

During a Wellness Consultation:

This is the perfect opportunity to mention the Business as you have built more of a relationship with the customer.  You can say something like this; “Most people in dōTERRA are customers but there is also a really good business opportunity where you can do something you really believe in and help others while building a very good business for yourself.  Would you like to learn more about the business opportunity?”

You can also invite them to host a class which can also lead into them wanting to learn more about the business side of dōTERRA.

Refer back to the class and ask if they would be interested in hosting a class to share these oils with friends and remind them of the incentive of free gifts for doing this! Point out that at hosted classes you can tailor the class to fit the needs of the guests.

Book the next chat!

Finally, as you close the conversation, book the next chat. This could be a class they are going to host, a chat about the business or a quick 10 min phone call when you can check they are ok and answer any questions they may have. If they are not yet on LRP, this is a good opportunity to offer this service again and also to see if they would like to host or learn about the business. Quite often, people like to use the oils for a month before they make these decisions.

You can also give them an LRP welcome pack which could contain samples of other oils and/or products dōTERRA do. This is a nice gift to help them feel cared for and also to help them get interested in other products.
